Nikam Recalls Kasab's Trial Claims On KBC 18

The Denial of Saint Peter — Caravaggio (Michelangelo Merisi), 1610

What Happened

On a KBC 18 special episode, prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told Amitabh Bachchan that 26/11 gunman Ajmal Kasab claimed during his trial that he had come to Mumbai to see Bachchan. Nikam also recalled Kasab disputing his arrest details and claiming to be a minor. Kasab was convicted and sentenced to death in 2010, and executed in 2012.

Why It Matters

Kasab was the sole surviving attacker from the 2008 Mumbai siege. Nikam led that prosecution and now revisits it as television material, years after the verdict. The trial produced a legal record; this exchange turns a fragment of that record into a talk-show anecdote.

What's Next

The episode aired as part of KBC 18's special episode, Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam, tied to the film Prahaar, based on Nikam's career, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi.

Takeaway

A death-penalty case from 2008 resurfaced as a story on a quiz show.
